Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau

Wengen ski slopes Christmas day 2008

The ski season can start in mid November and is in full swing by mid December, lasting right through to mid April. The Jungfrau region - Wengen, Murren and Grindelwald, has 213 km of pisted runs, including the formidable Lauberhorn Racetrack. Nursery slopes are in the centre of the village, with picturesque views and the Figeller bar right there for end of lesson drinks. Children have their own snow garden to get them started, then it’s off up the mountain - and once they can snowplough The Down Hill Only Club offers excellent children’s training.

But winter isn’t just about the skiing and snowboarding. There is curling, ice skating, snow shoeing, winter walking trails, indoor swimming and long toboggan runs - great fun on a moonlit evening. On sunny days take the cable car to Mannlichen, find a sunlounger by the ice bar and watch the world go by.
